Update on Bill C22

By Kendall Worth!

A couple of days ago Federal NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo makes a statement about Bill C22 being back from Senate.

And, here is another Tweet explaining that Bill C22 cannot be put off any longer.

Now that Bill C22 is back in Parliament, from the Senate, the question becomes when is Parliament going to get this bill back on the agenda? The disability community hopes that it will be soon, and more importantly, before this current session breaks for the summer. As this post explains, the community of people living in poverty, in Nova Scotia, was disgusted, when the short sitting of government this spring, wrapped up with no change or improvement to the system of Income Assistance.  Contacts I have in Ontario and BC tell me that there has been improvement in their Income Assistance or Disability incomes this year, but the rates, even in those provinces, is still not enough to live on.

Here is another tweet that demands the immediate passage of C-22.

The Disability Community, in Nova Scotia, continues to wait patiently hoping that something better than our current provincial allowances is on it’s way. Those I am in contact with, in Ontario and BC, are also waiting patiently.

In the meantime rents continue to be unaffordable, and inflation continues to increase, especially for Persons with Disabilities, who rely on the system.

Get Bill C22 on the move!
