And now the Summer Season of 2024 Kicks off With the Canada Day Events in Halifax

   By Kendall Worth

This coming weekend  (June 28th till July 1st 2024) is going to be a weekend full of free events here in Halifax to Celebrate Canada Day. Canada Day weekend is the kick off that starts off all summer events.  Even though I am taking somewhat of a break from blogging these days, I did promise some of my supporters I would advertise the free summer events on my BLOG.

This Picture shows an example of what Summer Crowds on the Halifax Waterfront could look like during the Summer Months.

While many better off people will be taking an advantage of these Canada Day events, sadly many I advocate for will not be attending these free events. It is not because they do not want to, it is because they have anxiety about attending. As one example pointed out in this link, what frustrates the community of people I advocate for,  is the fact their anxiety is just too high. Also,  what comes into play when they get down to the waterfront for any free summer event is that they see:

  • Many people who are part of the Financially Better Off Community down on the waterfront, hanging out with their friends or happily married couples spending family time with their families.
  • Many income assistance recipients feels encouraged to only have Ever being married with a family of their Own, Only to be a dream. The Following 2 BLOG posts will Explain why. This one  and this one.
  • University students who are staying in the city for the for the Summer hanging out and socializing with their friends.
  • Better off People enjoying their time on the various restaurant patios and buying Souvenirs from the Shops.
Seeing all the above are examples of why people living in poverty have anxiety about attending all the Free Sumner Events. The point I am trying to get at here, is going to these things alone By-yourself is no fun and makes you feel out of place.

This BLOG post here  points out one example as to why it is more anxiety provoking  for Income Assistance Recipients to go to these things. Here is a BLOG  that talks about how this Person did a week laterAnyway, the point I am trying to get at here is, often, the people I advocate for doo not have groups of friends to be attending these activities with. This is the reason why they feel out of place when they go these things. Those articles I just linked to, also point out reasons why it is very difficult for the Community of People I advocate for, to make friends to hangout and Socialize with on Social Occasions.
