So it turns out that in 2026 the Income Assistance rates increased by 1.6% as pointed out in https://news.novascotia.ca/en/2026/01/02/income-assistance-rates-increase

This means for those who are getting the full enhanced Standard Household rate, they will now be receiving $1022.00 which is a $17.00 jump from the $1005.00 they was getting last year. Many Income Assistance recipients, depending on their circumstances, will be getting less. Also the Disability supplement increased by 6.1%. The Disability Supplement is now $324.00 which is a $6.00 jump from the original $318.00 a month. See charts below!

The community agrees that whole thing about increasing the income assistance rates to Inflation is a step in the right direction. What is disappointing, however, is that this is not what the community was expecting. Last year the increase was 3.1%. This year, only 1.6%, Ya the Nova Scotia Government has got to get their act together and do better.

Lets continue advocating!
