Sometimes We Forget

 By – Kendall Worth!

As we all know, living the kind of life which I describe on my BLOG, that is, the life of income assistance recipient and everything that comes with it, is hard work and there is deterioration of mental health issues that comes with it. Society in itself often does not see the hard work that comes with living in poverty and on income assistance which includes a lot of anxiety triggering surveillance. The work is so hard that at times we outright forget to give thanks and recognition to people who go out of their way to help us achieve goals that people who live on income assistance and in poverty want to achieve. It is never hard to figure out why, Receiving only $950 and in some cases $609 a month plays a part in living a difficult day to day life.

When I say this I am talking especially thinking about the first event of the Mitigating Social Isolation Project held on June 12, 2023. A lot of work was done to organize this event. Here is my blog link to the announcement of the event: https://worthmatters.blogspot.com/2023/06/intro-to-first-event-held-by-mitigating.html

4 Facilitators and two participants from June 12th event.

Margaret Anne McHugh, Sandi Weagle, and Liz Goodridge, another first voice person, were a big part in organizing this event; they formed the organization committee for the Mitigating Social Isolation Project.

In this post I want to especially give Margaret Anne McHugh thanks and recognition for all the work she did to make the June 12th event happen. Of the 4 of us on the Committee, she was the one person who had both the time and the resources to do the leg work to initially meet with organizations and introduce the project, and concepts behind it. She also gathered donations, delivered posters and invitations. Margaret Anne created the outline for, and facilitated the first event -- meeting the attendees and guiding and supporting them through the afternoon.

It takes a village! Thank you!
